agency accessories (Skulptur)

During a one-month residency (August 2021) in the Spreewald near Berlin, Alex Besta began to cast organic structures of bark beetle larvae in plaster. She transferred these molds of the living environment into an overall installative composition that moves between rigidity, preservation and breaking out of the involuntarily given forms. The organic structures of the bark beetle larvae rise up, become autonomous and begin to produce themselves instead of being preserved.

Who is the producer here, who is the author and what rises above whom?

(Statement on the work of Alex Besta)

We stare at,

gripped by the living,

gently embracing its own.

Hanging at the eye level of our species

stuck here,

anchored,

chained.

Agency accessories

segmenting,

unleashing,

generating a vast network of nodes, loops and chains,

torn from hierarchies.

get a chain and be part of this,

whatever it is.
